Zero to 60 miles per second describes Madison! She will lie in my lap or with you on the couch getting belly rubs for some time, but then she is READY to GO! She loves to chase a tennis ball, it can be down the hill, in a pond or in the weeds and she will find it….. Inside, she loves to play with stuffed toys and is generally quite gentle with them. Her favorite is a stuffed sheep!
Madison is an active to performance level border collie. She needs a lot of exercise and activity (at least 3 hours strenuous activity per day). Madison likes Frisbee, although her first love is the ball. We taught her to jump over our agility jump in just a brief time, so we think she could be a fabulous agility dog with all her attributes.
Madison loves everyone she meets! We have never heard her growl, even when she has met crabby dogs. Although Madison has not an aggressive bone in her body, she would not be good with children, older people, or anyone who is not “firmly grounded,” as she has no clue about her power and drive.
Her recall is quite good, and she knows all her basic commands. She is crate trained, and pretty well housetrained. She tends to chase our cat and no obstacle will stop her from getting what she is intent on. She would never hurt him intentionally, but she is too intense for cats.
Madison has a lot of potential. She is still immature, but is coming along. She needs love, consistency and further training. Her only bad habit is she barks a lot; we are working on that but we think she will be a mouthy girl all her life!
Madison is being fostered in southern Illinois about an hour east of St. Louis, and 4 hours south of Chicago. She is spayed, microchipped, had a fecal and is wormed, up to date on shots and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her stomach is sensitive, so we have to be careful to feed her simple but wonderful dog food. Fearless, FAST and funny Madison (we have nicknamed her “Cowgirl”) is an amazingly talented, purebred, rough coat, red tri-colored female border collie! She is an active to performance border collie, and she needs a lot of exercise and activity (at least 4 hours strenuous activity per day). She is ball crazy, and will even go in to the weeds to find the ball. She could be an SAR prospect with all her talents. Madison likes Frisbee, although her first love is the ball. We taught her to jump over our agility jump in just a brief time, so we think she could be a fabulous agility dog with all her attributes.
Madison is very friendly to people, dogs and everyone she meets. Her recall is now wonderful, and she knows all her basic commands. She is crate trained, and pretty well housetrained, although she tends to chase our cat and no obstacle will stop her from getting what she is intent on.
We have fostered Madison for a few months now. When she came to us she was an 8 week old pup in a 10 month old (estimated) body. Although Madison has not an aggressive bone in her body, she would not be good with children as she has no clue about her power and drive.
She is coming along wonderfully and needs a home who will continue to bring out her full potential. She needs love, consistency and further training. She loves people and attention. Her only bad habit is she barks a lot, we are working on that but we think she will be a mouthy girl all her life!

Madison is a very spirited girl, full of boundless energy! Her favorite activity is to run wide open around the house and bark at the world. She is a happy, happy girl and loves to play with other dogs. At the moment, she will chase our cat. She is not aggressive, she just wants to play.
A very active home will be required for Madison. She will need a couple of hours of hard play, agility or the like every day. She is very fast, agile and smart.
Madison is super friendly, and has absolutely no aggression towards anyone. She has not been handled alot, and pees submissively and when she gets excited. We are working on that.
Madison has never been in a house until two weeks ago. She is learning house manners, but it will be a while as she has no clue. At the moment she jumps over and on the furniture and counters, so we are keeping her on lead while in the house. As smart as she is, she will learn quickly. She is learning to be crated trained, and doing quite well with that. We are working on teaching her basic manners in general.
We would suggest families with small/young children are not a fit for Madison due to her exuberance, and her tendency to jump. And no cats or small animals, at least at present.
All of Madison’s vet care is completed, she is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots and has been wormed. She is on heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative.

We just brought Madison in to our rescue yesterday (along with her dad, Duke), so we are just starting to get to know her. Her owners moved and could not take Madison or Duke with them. Madison is 10 to 12 months old.
One thing we know for sure is Madison will be a Velcro dog! She very much wants to be with people, loves pets and is very submissive. She will need some serious self-confidence building (training classes will be required), and should start blooming once she learns to “hold her head up”.
Madison loves other dogs! She has met the 4 other dogs here without incidence and very much wants to play with them, but we want to take it slow as she was just spayed.
We doubt Madison has been in a house much, if at all. We are already working on improving her confidence level, house training and crate training.
Madison is being fostered in southern IL. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots and is on flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative.
