Zip   27 August 2009

Zip is a very happy boy!  He is playful and sweet.  He enjoys playing ball, eating, hanging in the shade on hot days, belly rubs, eating, wrestling with the other dogs and watching the cat being fed.  He is very interested in our cat and will keep an eye on her when she is around.  He is not aggressive toward her at all, or anyone or anything that I have ever seen.  He is shy with new people at first.  New situations can be intimidating, as it is a great big world and he hasn’t seen much of it yet but he is ready to learn.  He is very good with basic commands and has a real willingness to learn and please.

He still has an occasional accident in the house, but is trying very hard not to.   He is full of puppy energy, but never destructive or out of control and will probably be a medium active Border Collie who will be on the small side when he grows up (probably about 35 lbs).  His birthday is January 2, 2009 so he is still very much a puppy and looking for a home that understands that puppies need a little time to adjust.

He is attentive and smart too!  He learns quickly.  He enjoys chewing on a rawhide, but has never chewed my furniture.   He likes to be with you but is not a “clingy” dog.  He likes to be petted but would rather not be held, but he is learning that belly rubs are relaxing too.  Zip has a very sweet personality and is a little gentler than a lot of other puppies.  He will need a gentle but firm owner, someone who will love him and treat him kindly, go slowly when he is unsure and encourage him to become more self confident as he explores the world.  He needs more socialization which he can get from trips to the park, or Petsmart, obedience classes and taking him with you to visit family and friends.  He is great with other dogs.

Zip and his brother Mick have been with us about 3 weeks now.  They are both adorable munchkins and we are so glad that they survived the parvovirus!   He and Mick both have a clean bill of health now.

Zip is neutered, micro chipped and up to date on shots.  He has had a fecal and been wormed.  He and Mick had parvovirus, but are completely recovered and are no longer contagious to other animals or human beings.

Zip and Mick are being fostered near St. Louis.  For more information on Zip please email Chris comebyebcrescue@hotmail.com or go to our website www.comebyebcrescue.rescuegroups.org for an online application for  Zip or Mick.

Zip, a 7 month old male purebred Border Collie who was taken in to rescue with his brother Mick.  Zip is clever and independent.    He is a confident little dog, and walks well on leash.  Zip has a very upbeat and bold approach to the world, despite his size.  He always seems to be thinking, and will often entertain himself by getting into mischief. Tearing up strips of paper is a favorite pastime!  He doesn’t mind being held on your lap for a while, but doesn’t want to lie on his back, like his brother. Zip wants to be ready for action, so doesn’t really relax when being held. He is a wiggle worm when you pick him up!

He likes to chase the ball, but really is more interested in the floppy Frisbee.  He will usually bring it back (at least part way) to you, but is still getting the hang of retrieving.  Zip likes to be petted, but then is off to explore other things, as he is a curious boy.  He also enjoys a good tussle with Mick.

Zip is interested in other dogs, and wants to sniff and play.  He also tries to be dominant with some dogs (if they will allow it).  Zip is crate trained.  Just toss in a few bits of kibble and he will go in to rest in his crate.  During the day he is never crated more than 3-4 hours at a time, and also sleeps through the night for 8 hours in his crate as well.  Zip knows some commands: ”Sit”, “Go Potty”, and “Wait” which keeps him from rushing the door.  We are working on “Go crate” and “Bring”(the ball).  Zip has the typical BC puppy energy, and is usually busy with something when outside.

Zip is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots.  He has had a fecal and been wormed.  He and Mick had parvovirus but are completely recovered and not contagious to other beings.

Zip is being fostered near St. Louis.   Please email Chris at comebyebcrescue@hotmail.com for more information or go to our website at www.comebyebcrescue.rescuegroups.org for an online application to adopt Zip.
