PLEASE NOTE: Annie is listed here as a courtesy to a cooperating rescue, the PAW rescue group in Decorah, Iowa.  Please email the contact below for information on Annie.

Annie is an approximately 1 year old Smooth Border Collie who was found as a stray. After being unable to locate her owner, I took Annie in to foster for our rescue group. Annie is a total sweetheart with a soft, affectionate personality who is very people oriented. She likes to stay near you and is always camped out under my desk when I'm at the computer. She's not clingy at all...just enjoys being with people.

Annie is what I call a "leaner". When she is getting attention, she will cozy up as close as she can to you and lean right into you and look into your eyes with a smile on her face. This girl really is a love! Annie is doing great with all the other dogs here and tends to be on the submissive side with them. She is good with the indoor cats...although she will ocassionally chase one of the barn cats just for fun (we are discouraging that). Most of the time she ignores them though and she does completely ignore our cattle.

Typical of her Border Collie breed, Annie is very athletic. She can jump higher than my head from a standstill and is lightening fast and quick on her feet, so I can see her doing agility or possibly even flyball. Annie is pretty energetic, although I wouldn't call her a really high-drive dog. She probably wouldn't be happy laying around the house for 9 hours while her family is at work. But she's not the kind of dog who needs to be on the go all day either. As long as she can get off-leash for a good run a couple times a day, I think she'll do fine.

Annie is excellent about staying around our acreage and generally has pretty good recall and she stays close with me and the rest of the dogs on our off-leash walks in the country. Annie is housetrained and will be spayed, vaccinated, heartworm/lyme tested and fecal tested before being adopted out.

If you're looking for a great companion who could also be a good candidate for dog sports, Annie might be your girl. Or even if you're not into the performace aspect of things but just want a great dog and can give her plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, let us know. Annie is being fostered with the PAW rescue group in Decorah, Iowa. If you would like to apply for Annie, please email Paula at bkeehner@neitel.net or call her at 563-539-4999.
