Bailey is 3 year old female BC, 30 lbs, with great agility potential.  However, with all this beauty and potential, she is also very cautious around strangers.  She is being fostered in Westville, Indiana.  For additional information on Bailey, please contact Sharon at jsmbmiller@comcast.net.  For an online adoption application, please go to our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org.

November 2012
Bailey loves to play Frisbee and ball! She used to wait until the Frisbee hit the ground before she would grab it, but now she is grabbing it more before it hits. She will go after any ball that is thrown, but prefers bigger balls like a soccer or football with some of the air taken out of it. Bailey will take the ball and throw it in the air and catch it entertaining herself. She has always brought the ball to me wanting me to run after her and try and take it from her. She now brings it back to me and drops it as long as she knows there is treat waiting after she drops it. I took Bailey for her first herding lesson 2 weeks ago. She now knows what sheep are and what she is supposed to do with them. While we were there, a very friendly horse came up to us and it did make her nervous.

Bailey loves her people but is fearful of strangers. She is very sensitive and eager to learn. Bailey would be a great agility dog. The dog park I take her to has a tunnel, a-frame, jump and pause table, and she does all three very well. My husband can pat his chest and she will jump right up in his arms! Bailey will need someone who will be patient with her and help her work through her fear of strangers. If you have experience and are willing to work with a dog like this, please send an email to jsmbmiller@comcast.net.  For an online adoption application, please go to our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org.

Bailey is blossoming, or should we say, busting out all over (just like June—remember that show tune?)   She is a happy, active little girl who just wants to have fun—any place she can find it, with whomever she can get to play with her.

The back of our yard is a wooded hill; in the spring we plant shade-loving flowers here and there among the stumps and rocks.  I was sitting on a rock waiting for the next flat of impatiens to make its way up to me, when Bailey went sailing over my head and down the hill!   She has worn little trails that she zips along, up the hill and down the hill, over the boulders and gardens.    And if someone is sitting in the way, not a problem—over she flies!

She loves balls of all types, and one of her favorite toys is a football, long deflated.   She amuses herself by tossing it up into the air and catching it, and occasionally it will land in someone’s lap if they’ve been ignoring her play invitations.    Bailey’s never bored, as long as there’s a person to solicit pets from, a squirrel to chase or a toy to toss.

Bailey’s energy and agility lead us to think she will need a sporting home, where she’ll get the training she’ll love, to develop her already considerable skills.   She trains easily with voice commands and praise (or a favorite toy) and she’s getting used to treats as well.  Once she’s had a good romp outside, she settles in her crate for a nap—she loves her crate and feels safe enough there to doze off and dream of her next adventure.

Bailey’s spay stitches will come out this week and then she’ll be ready for a home of her own.   We’ve been trying to talk to her a bit about what sort of forever family she’d like to have, but it’s not easy getting her to sit still for a serious discussion.   We’ll keep working on it though!   Meanwhile, if you’ve been looking for an active companion and training partner, you might want to give some thoughts about whether there’s room in your heart and home for an up and coming gal like Ms. Bailey.
